Otome Games in Nintendo Switch (English)

Hey folks and all you lovely otome gamers! I purposely made this post as an updated version of the previous one I did back in 2018 titled, Otome Games in Nintendo Switch (English) ~Old Version~. Just so we’re clear, this list will only include otome games that were localized and are currently available in the west. I’ll also make sure to update this list whenever we get new releases.

Games by Kitty

Looking back on what we had two years ago versus what we have right now, I’d say, for such a niche genre, we’re actually making good progress! From mobile ports to vita ports, and now we actually have new games announced exclusively for the switch alone! It makes me really happy to see a lot of support coming from everyone, both old and new otome fans! Nyaa!

The list below may not be up to par with the Japanese releases for very obvious reasons lol, but here’s what we have so far.

The Men of Yoshiwara: Kikuya

Screen Shot 2020-05-05 at 6.43.16 PM

Game Review
Voiced? NO
Price: 19.99 USD
Chlo’s Rating: 5/10

Comments: I personally, liked this game because of its *cough* steamy content and beautiful art. Some routes were great, while others were boring. It is a bit expensive though for a non voiced tittle.
Recommended routes: Kagura, Kagerou, Takao.

The Men of Yoshiwara: Oghiya

Screen Shot 2020-05-05 at 6.42.07 PM

Game Review (in progress)
Voiced? NO
Price: 14.99 USD
Chlo’s Rating: NA

Comments: In terms of the game’s sound and mechanics, I find this one better than the first Yoshiwara series. Story-wise, I’ve only finished Takigawa’s route so I can’t really spell out any thoughts if this game was better than its predecessor. I do like Oghiya MC more than Kikuya MC.

The Charming Empire

Screen Shot 2020-05-05 at 6.41.27 PM

Game Review
Voiced? YES
Price: 24.99 USD
Chlo’s Rating: 4/10

Comments: The only two things I liked about this game were the voice actors and the artwork. The story was super bland and most of the routes ended in a rush.
Recommended Routes: Kei Yoshimine, Soshi Amazaki

Pub Encounter “Dandy Shot”

Screen Shot 2020-05-05 at 6.40.41 PM

Game Review (in progress)
Voiced? NO
Price: 16.99 USD
Chlo’s Rating: NA

Comments: I kept putting this game down for some reason lol. I’ve been hearing a few mixed reviews regarding Dandy Shot (Pub Encounters). Most of the reviews were actually quite good, as long as you don’t mind romancing older men (chuckles). I’ve only finished Yuze Ryunosuke’s route, he’s the tsundere and his story wasn’t so bad.

Destiny Princess

Screen Shot 2020-05-05 at 6.39.30 PM

Game Review (in progress)
Voiced? NO
Price: 14.99 USD
Chlo’s Rating: NA

Comments: One gripe I have for this game was that, because it was a mobile port the CGs on the Switch looked really weird and stretched. The game has an interesting prologue and I’ve actually enjoyed its steamy content.^^; I’ve finished three routes so far. Some were good, while others were meh.
Recommended Routes: Nobunaga

The Amazing Shinsengumi

Screen Shot 2020-05-05 at 6.38.30 PM

Game Review (in progress)
Voiced? NO
Price: 11.99 USD
Chlo’s Rating: NA

Comments:  I’ve played the game’s prologue and it was boring as heck. I haven’t started a route yet but based on “hearsay” (otomearmada folks), this game apparently borders a bit on “rapey” scenarios? Haha if you’re someone who’s uncomfortable with that, it may be best to stay out of this game.^^;;

Ayakashi Koi Gikyoku

Screen Shot 2020-05-06 at 10.09.42 AM

Game Review
Voiced? YES
Price: 24.99 USD
Chlo’s Rating: 3/10

Comments: This game had great voice acting. That’s it. The story was kinda sloppy that I couldn’t wait to finish it just to be done with it. I’m not sure if I’d recommend this game to anyone at all.
Recommended Routes: Akito (just cause Mamoru voices him lol)

Gakuen Club

Screen Shot 2020-05-05 at 6.36.52 PM

Game Review
Voiced? YES
Price: 24.99 USD
Chlo’s Rating: 5/10

Comments: This game wasn’t so bad. It had some good routes worth checking out and the art style was really beautiful. But since all the main characters were shotas, the game didn’t appeal to me as much.
Recommended Routes: Saku Takizawa, Toma Sakai

Iris School of Wizardry – Vinculum Hearts

Screen Shot 2020-05-05 at 6.34.36 PM

Game Review
Voiced? YES
Price: 24.99 USD
Chlo’s Rating: 5/10

Comments: I loved the game’s shoujo art style. Story-wise, it was mediocre at best. Some routes I kinda enjoyed while others left me all (σ_σ*). The heroine was also pretty spunky in this game so that’s a plus.
Recommended Routes: Matias, A-Jay, Iris

Kitty Love – Way to look for love

Screen Shot 2020-05-05 at 6.33.49 PM

Game Review
Voiced: YES
Price: 24.99 USD
Chlo’s Rating: 6/10

Comments: The game’s english subs needed proofreading. However, I was able to chug it all up because the story was so cute. The game’s art style, music, voice acting, and enjoyable stories were its redeeming qualities imo.
Recommended Routes: Kohei, Takuma

Nightshade

Screen Shot 2020-05-05 at 6.44.38 PM

Game Review
Voiced: YES
Price: 47.99 USD
Chlo’s Rating: 8/10

Comments: If you’re having second thoughts whether or not it’s worth shelling out 50 bux to get this game in your Switch Library. Here’s my advice: GET IT! If you haven’t played the game yet, this one’s definitely a gem. When it comes to the character arcs and story-line, I cannot recommend Nightshade enough! Ask other Nightshade fans and they’ll tell you the same thing! ha! (*´▽`*)

Enchanted in the Moonlight (Miyabi, Kyoga & Samon)

Screen Shot 2020-05-05 at 6.48.14 PM

Game Review (in progress)
Voiced: NO
Price: 19.99 USD
Chlo’s Rating: NA

Comments: Haven’t really touched this game at all, even in mobile but I’d expect the story is just about the same quality as any voltage mobile otome game would have. This game series has a good amount of fan base though, so maybe that’s telling something? ┐(‘~` )┌

Enchanted in the Moonlight (Kiryu, Chikage & Yukinojo)

Game Review (in progress)
Voiced: NO
Price: 29.99 USD

Comments: Star Crossed Myth series  is another voltage mobile title that was recently ported over to the Switch. If you’re curious whether this port has the same amount of story & additional contents the mobile app had, here’s what you’ll be getting for purchasing the game’s full console price: All main character’s stories and POVs, Epilogues, Sequels, All character’s POV sequels, Sequel Epilogues, Musings on Love (Side Stories), S2 Porlogue, A promise of Infinity (Side Stories), A Promise of Infinity (All Character’s POV).

Game Review (in progress)
Voiced: YES
Price: 29.99 USD

Comments:  This is probably the first otome OELVN that has landed on the Switch Library. This game has an interesting premise and setting. To add up, it is fully voiced in english which is pretty cool. This is another title that I haven’t had the chance to play yet but is currently sitting in my backlog. lol

Kissed by the Baddest Bidder

Game Review (in progress)
Voiced: NO
Price: 24.99 USD

Comments: I believe I played Eisuke’s route (the CEO) in the mobile app way back. It was good steamy content to pass the time if you ask me… but the eyeless heroine turned me off.

Code Realize ~Guardian of Rebirth~

Screen Shot 2020-05-05 at 6.58.23 PM

Game Review
Voiced: YES
Price: 39.99 USD
Chlo’s Rating: 9/10

Comments: This is the first Otomate title that was ported over to the Switch console. It’s also, one of the first otome games I’ve played in the Vita and I was sooo happy when I heard it’s finally coming to the Switch. Get this game if you can! You won’t be disappointed. I promise!

Game Review
Voiced: YES
Price: 39.99 USD
Chlo’s Rating: 8/10

Comments: This fandisc is an awesome sequel to the first Code Realize series. If you’re thirsty for more adventures with Cardia and Lupin’s Gang, take my advice and get this game! This fandisc will also feature Finis and Sholme’s very own routes.

My Secret Pets

Screen Shot 2020-05-05 at 7.02.07 PM

Game Review (in progress)
Voiced: NO
Price: 14.99
Chlo’s Rating: NA

Comments: I use to have the the mobile version of this game and I’ve only played Lufna’s (the cat) route. It’s alright. The story (for that one route) is kinda underwhelming. I might try and finish the rest of the routes one day  (playing the switch version) and write a review but If you’re planning to get this game, maybe get Yoshiwara instead or get this when its on sale.

Closet Princess

Screen Shot 2020-05-04 at 11.54.27 AM

Game Review (in progress)
Voiced: NO (partial only)
Price: 24.99
Chlo’s Rating: NA

Comments: Don’t be fooled by this game’s eshop decription as “voiced” because IT’S NOT! The game is partially voiced, by partial, I mean you’ll only hear the seiyuu’s yelps and grunts lmao! Honestly, not worth its full price! This game is also a straight up mobile port and nothing new has been added to it in the console version.

Comments: I’ve heard great things about this game back when it was first released in mobile. I never had the chance to pick it up though, as I was a bit skeptical and again, eyeless heroines really turns me off. Maybe I’ll give this one a go soon!

Collar x Malice

Game Review

Price: 39.99 USD
Chlo’s Rating: 10/10

Comments: Collar x Malice is finally getting a switch port! This game is my absolute favorite otome title! The romance is pretty darn good, yes… but it’s actually the story that’ll leave you completely immersed! For the life of me, I recommend this game 100%!  NOTE: This game’s switch port will be released this coming June 25, 2020

And there you have it guys! So far, these are all the (english) otome games we currently have available in the western eshop. I’m honestly hoping and crossing my fingers that this list will massively expand throughout the years. Let’s keep supporting this genre and that may happen soon enough!

If you think I’ve missed some other titles , please do let me know so I can update this list!

  1. I’m so happy you’re still updating! Glad to see so many games are here and still coming to the west. I remember looking at your old list last year and thinking the switch’s library is looking a bit sparse…sooo glad it’s more expansive now!! It almost seems unreal that C:R and CxM are here too–I read your reviews every so often to scratch the itch of wanting to play it so much and now I’m super excited that I can! And I can’t wait for Cafe Enchante and Piofore to come too ^o^ cheers to you for keeping us updated and to so many otome coming to the switch!!

    1. Thank you shun for this comment and for your kind words!(^ω^)
You’re right! We’ve come a long way! ^^ From almost zero new games last year to back to back releases this year. It is indeed almost surreal to see more big titles getting localized for the switch console now. I hope you’ve already picked up the CR series and I can’t wait for you to enjoy CxM! 😀

Thanks! xD here’s to more otoges for switch in the future! ❤ Cheers!

      1. C:R has been sitting in my cart for a long time cuz I’ve been so into playing Animal Crossing lately but I’ll eventually get to it! After I play CxM of course hehe ^o^/ are you going to review Cafe Enchante or Piofore? I’d love to read your thoughts! (I forgot I had an account so hence the name change oops!;;)

      2. Yes ofc! Most definitely! I’ve been hungry to review new otoges in the switch so im really looking forward to playing and reviewing piofiore and enchante! ^_^ Oh, and thanks for reading btw! I appreciate it! ❤

  2. Looks like my friend will be able to play some of the games I have! I recently got a vita and totally stocked up on games from the Big in Japan sale. I got 5 titles haha! Add those to the hakuoki and bad apple wars I already have and I’m all set for a while! I love reading your reviews and even though I don’t have a switch I’ll definitely still be on the lookout for your posts!

    1. Thanks for this comment KC! That’s wonderful! I may have done the same thing when I first got my vita hhhhh! xD The PSVita was indeed a magnificent console for visual novels and it makes me sad that they’ve ended its production T_T.

I hope your friend enjoys the big titles that are now in the switch! ❤ Aww, and thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate it! (´-ω-^)

  3. It’s great to see that we will be getting a few new titles instead of just ports. My most anticipated is CXM Unlimited this year.

Do you know if Piofiore Memories will be a big budget Otome? it looks like it would be. Great post!

    1. Hey Halcy! I’m the same! I can’t wait to play CxM Unlimited this year! 😀
I believe Piofiore is one of Otomate’s good titles since Otomate Japan announced a fandisc for it last year, I’d assume it was one of the their target audience’s favs that garnered them a lot of sales. 🙂

  4. I am so happy to see an update about Switch Otome games! (´。• ω •。`) I am so excited about CxM along with some of the other ones coming out!! \(^▽^)/ I purchased a Switch not that long ago, but didn’t know they sold otome games until I found your blog! (Bought Code Realize after reading your reviews, and I immensely enjoyed it as my first console otome game, so huge thank you for that!) I only played mobile otome games, and Princess Closet was one of them. However, I never completed it.

CxM, Code Realize (and some others) were otome games from the PS Vita. Do you think other otome title will be available for the Switch, such as Psychedelica or Bad Apple Wars?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Hi Miki, thanks for this comment! I really appreciate it! ❤ So glad to hear you enjoyed Code Realize, you'll be enjoying it more when you get to pick up its fandisc! (^_−)−☆

As for your question, I personally think it all depends if a certain game had a pretty good sales margin. I dont think BAW sold well in the vita? Not too sure about the Psychedelica series either since they were recently ported in PC. ┐(´ー`)┌ Though, it'd be really awesome if the Psychedelica games are ported over to the switch as theyre two of my fav titles! ♪( ´▽`)

  6. Thanks for the list! I am new to otome games but have been familiar with the concept for a while. I am SO excited that the Switch has gotten so many titles. I have every title ported to it but some are backlogged. I prefer physical copies so I imported Nightshade from Japan since you can choose English as a language to play it in. I am glad Askys is releasing so many physical copies! I noticed the Switch has some girls love visual novels. I wish we could get some boys love ones ported as well. I am looking forward to what the future holds for the Switch!

  7. Thank you for such a useful post! I have no interest in any of the mobile ports since imo they’re not worth the money they’re asking but it’s nice to see more big titles on the Switch! It’s such a great platform for visual novels imo. Especially excited for the CxM fandisc!

    Liked by 1 person

  8. Ahh!!! Thank you for posting! I just purchased Nightshade (importing from Japan and ugh I just want it in my hands already!) and I pre-ordered CxM. Heard a lot of good things about it so I may just end up preordering the fandisc also. Would love to see your Piofore review ❤

  9. Thank you so much for keeping updated! Tbh I already saved my money to buy CxM, CxM Unlimited, and also Café Enchante. Do you think I should get Piofire too? Because I never played that game before and it never catches my eye. I hope that CR: Wintertide Miracles will be localized (since it’s already been ported to NS but only for japan), and Konami reveals more information about Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side: 4th Heart 😭 (Please… it’s almost a year).
P.S. Is it weird that I’m a guy but really love playing Oto-ge?

    1. I haven’t played Piofiore in the vita either but i’ve read a couple of good reviews from the Japanese market though I’m not sure how it’ll play out in the west, so we’ll see. I can’t wait to play it though. If you’re not sure about this game, i suggest checking out some reviews first to see if the game is your cup of tea! uwu (´ ∀ ` *) Oh and not at all! I have a couple of guy friends who enjoy otome games and they fangirl with me too! wwwww so you’re PERFECTLY VALID! ❤ Cheers!

  10. Hello!

Just wanted to stop by and say thank you for this article. I have such a big otome game itch after playing ikemen Sengoku again that I really wanted to own a console version where I don’t have to wait for free chapters every day and spend money on other things like side events and stuff.

I really had no idea where to start and your blog and article really helped out! the reviews and reasoning for each section really helped me determine which one I want to own first.

I just bought Code realize and it will be coming in the mail soon. hope to buy collar malice and cafe enchant and prifore when they come out too. I cant wait to try Code realize. im so excited.

I have a few questions if your don’t mind. I see that you are playing Taisho X Alice? what do you think of it? is it worth the buy? I was also interested in amnesia and Norn 9, but wondering if I should hold out for a possible Nintendo release. Do you think there’s a likelihood for a western switch release?

Steam is also going to have their summer sale soon: which otome games do you recommend to buy?

sorry for the hundreds of questions. im really excited to jump into this genre.

    1. Hi Sonlia! Thank you for this comment! I appreciate it! ❤ Ahh yes, Ikesen was sucha good otome for a mobile game…and I'm so excited for you to play Code Realize for the first time! I hope you'll get to love and enjoy the characters as much as much as I did! ^_^

As for your question. Yes, I loved Taisho x Alice and I would def recommend it. Take note, that TaiAli Episode 1 in steam only covers 2 routes and Episode 2 has not been released yet. Hence I have yet to write any reviews for it.

Amnesia is available in steam and mobile. It's also one of the better Otomate titles that were localized, I just don't know if IdeaFactory International (the publishers) will port the game to the switch. Norn9 is only available in the PSVita.

The STEAM Otome Games i would recommend are Hakuoki, Amnesia, 7Scarlet, Psychedelica Series and Taisho x Alice. 😀

  11. Hi !

I just wanted to stop by to thank you for this article !
I’m a huge fan of Otome Game, but unfortunately, i’m french, and very few games are translated in my native language.
So i put all my hope in English games.

Until now, i always play on my computer, but since i have discovered that Otome Game were coming on Switch, I decided to tag along, but I had no idea where to start.
Thanks to you, I have decided to start playing on Switch with Code Realize, and I looooooved it so much !

There are still a lot of Otome games that I really want to play at but that are still only available on PS VITA, like Kamigami no Asobi. I have no idea if it will be on Switch some day, but i can still have hope !

I will keep an eye on your articles, in search of a new games to buy.
    Thank you for your advices.

    1. Hello Lorry! Thanks for this comment! ❤
I'm glad you're enjoying and having fun with Code Realize! It really is a great game! :3 I'm not sure if Kamigami no Asobi will ever get localized (prob a very slim chance) but as you said, there's absolutely no harm in having a lil' hope!

If you're playing otome on PC, there are a couple of good ones that were recently ported from the PSVita to STEAM. Titles such as Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly, Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk and 7Scarlet were actually quite good. ^_^
