Aksys Games Announces Four New Otome Titles for the Nintendo Switch!

Today (August 6, 2021), Aksys Games staged the “All Aksys” event on their official Twitch channel, unveiling four new Otome titles for 2022 and beyond. Aksys Games also revealed additional details of each new title during the stream.

LOVER PRETEND

SYNOPSIS

Chiyuki lives alone, spending all her time studying for university and doing part-time work. She has two dreams in life: to become a scriptwriter—also a dream of her late mother—and to find her father whom she never met. From clues left behind, it seems her mother was writing a drama script before she was born.

Chiyuki lands a job as an assistant to a scriptwriter for a film that the sons of the drama staff are making. She searches for information while working her new job, but in a twist of events ends up cast in the role of their love interest…?

This is a pretend love role, not true love. Can Chiyuki create a script about fake lovers, while not knowing anything about falling in love herself?

PARADIGM PARADOX

SYNOPSIS

The year is 25XX, a world where mankind lives only in isolated colonies. The protagonist, a student at the academy, is bored with the drudgery of everyday life, a day-to-day existence untouched by gossip about “Heroes” and “Vermin,” the enemy of mankind, and unnoticed by the good-looking guys at the academy.

One night she slips out of the dormitory and encounters colony-invading Vermin, landing herself in danger! Four girls appear suddenly and repel the Vermin with miraculous abilities. The protagonist decides to work as a Hero, leading a busy life as both a student and champion of justice.

But why is it that she has more opportunities to talk to the good-looking guys everyone is whispering about? What are their secret? And what is the enemy’s true identity?

Kimi wa Yukima ni Koinegau

(English Title Pending)
SYNOPSIS

The first year of the Kyoho era. The land is ruled by the eighth shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune. Repeated incidents caused by monsters in the town of Edo upset and frighten the people so the Tokugawa shogunate establishes the “Oniwaban” to maintain public order and secured the town.

Seasons passed—to year 11 of the Kyoho era. A girl in a village far from Edo has the power to see a “black thread” before every catastrophe and the panicked villagers drove her away into the snowy mountains.

One day, a young man who’s an Oniwaban, appears before her. This is a story in which a girl encounters “non-humans,” and learns about love.

PIOFIORE 1926

(This is the sequel of Piofiore Fated Memories)
Window Release: Summer 2022

The full sequel to last year’s hit Otome title, Piofiore Fated Memories. This continues the adventures of the protagonist, Liliana, when she’s immersed once again in the dangerous Mafia world that tears apart the city of Burlone.

  1. I’m right about Lover Pretend and Piofiore 1926 after all. 100% getting Piiofiore. Lover Pretend theme and art is so my type but saw some reviews and really a bit bothered by the plotline of some routes, I’m very scared of dumb writing for plot fillers, cos I’ve my fair share of those in dramaland, lols. It’ll be such a shame if that’s the case, given the potential, sigh. I guess I’ll be waiting for more reviews from the west and yourself once it’s out before deciding to get or not, still on edge.

Not especially interested in other 2 titles, but I think KIMI WA YUKIMA NI KOINEGAU have potential from he plot even though I’m not the biggest fan of period pieces such as Hakuoki (I had hots for the main antagonist though. lols)

  2. Hey hey! Thanks again for the sweet sweet news, Chlo! (and for always writing such nice replies to my comments, you are too kind (o˘◡˘o)!)
This is *wild*. I did not expect FOUR new titles to be announced, and I definitely did not expect those ones to make the cut. I’m now looking at a 3 for 3 on my “games I bought Japanese copies of in spite of my terrible to nonexistent language skills because I had absolutely no hope for a localization” list… (turns out I’m really bad at predictions, haha. On the other hand: more means of practice!).
So yep, feeling pretty overjoyed over there. Hope you are too! Personally I’m excited for KimiYuki, but mostly for Paradigm Paradox (which was a complete impulse buy and got me on premise alone… I’m pretty much in love with everything that this game is selling <3)
It's also interesting to see Aksys chose more fluffy games. Seems like it's pretty much balanced this time around. I know some parts of the community will be happy about that. 🙂 As a misery lover I still hope Shuuen no Virche is Iffy's last surprise game, but this change in trends is pretty welcome (and can also be meaningful moving forward, as otoge fans will have more diverse picks to play and the general taste may change!)
