Today during Eastasiasoft’s Fall Showcase 2025, the publisher revealed that Hakuoki SSL ~Sweet School Life~ will officially release for Nintendo Switch on February 12, 2026, just in time for Valentine’s Day! This marks the first-ever English localization of this fan-favorite spin-off in the Hakuoki series.
To celebrate the announcement, Eastasiasoft unveiled the game’s opening video along with the first English screenshots, which were shared across social media and on the company’s official YouTube channel. Physical pre-orders are currently available through retail partner Playasia, although remaining Limited Editions are already close to selling out.
Hakuoki SSL ~Sweet School Life~ is a visual novel adventure centered around heroine Chizuru Yukimura and the handsome legendary warriors of the Shinsengumi, but unlike most of the series that’s set in Edo period Japan, this standalone entry casts the characters as members of a school in modern Japan. This Nintendo Switch release will include English language support for the first time, which should be welcome news for the many otome fans that have long requested localization of this particular game.

About the Physical Release
Physical copies of Hakuoki SSL ~Sweet School Life~ for Nintendo Switch will ship the same week as the digital release. A Limited Edition is also available for the game, and only 2,000 Limited Edition sets will be produced, each including:

Yes, this is a stand alone, spin-off game. With its own story. You don’t have to finish or complete the older Hakuoki games to understand this one… although it would definitely be better if you know who the characters, what their personality are, etc. to enjoy SSL more!

i was so close to pre ordering a few months ago, but my fave Li from the main game doesn’t have a route apparently 😦 maybe I’ll get it in the future!

You mean route walkthroughs? Yes I will. I’m afraid this will not be available on Amazon since it’s an eastasiasoft exclusive release. The game will be available in the eshop when it releases.
