Besties, we’re on the last leg of 2024! It’s been one heck of a year, hasn’t it? This year has been kind of a blur tbh. WDYM, it’s the last day of 2024 already? I haven’t even cleared half of my backlogs yet. How is time running out so fast?

This year has never failed us with so many good otome localizations across all platforms. We even have R18 releases now. Also, the indie scene has never been better this year and I am very much excited to see what direction our once very niche (and I mean cricket-noises niche) genre is heading!

2024 Otome Highlights

✔️ There were 22 (localized) Otome Games released for the Switch console this year.

Nintendo Switch

  1. Sympathy Kiss
  2. Tengoku Struggle – strayside-
  3. Sekimori Gami – Saien (also has a PC release)

  7. The Villainess is Adored by the Prince of the Neighbor Kingdom (also has a PC release)
  8. Him, the Smile & Bloom
  9. Celestia Chain of Fate (also has a PC release)
  10. Meiji Tokyo Renka (also has a PC release)

PC Exclusives

  1. R18: Lunar Maiden, Riverside Angel, Godlike Moment
  2. R18: Princess Paradise
  3. Melty Amethyst
  4. Phantom of the Twilight
  5. Vibrant Frame

Mobile Port

  1. Oops, I Said Yes?!
  2. Romance MD: Always On Call
  3. How to Sing to Open Your Heart
  4. Astoria Fate’s Kiss

Some of the Nintendo Switch titles have PC ports like Sekimori Gami, The Villainess, Celestia, Meikoi and Steam Prison FD. I have also included Hakuoki in the switch list because although it was a vita (and PC) port of both Kyoto Winds and Edo Blossoms combined, their translations were revised and updated for the Switch by eastasiasoft!

✔️ 15 Nintendo Switch Otome Game titles have been announced for localization in 2025-2026.

  1. Genso Manège (January 31, 2025)
  2. Him, The Smile & Bloom [Official English Release by PQube] (February 2025)
  3. Battlefield Waltz (April 8, 2025)
  4. Despera Drops (Spring 2025)
  5. 7’Scarlet [Swithc port] (TBA)
  6. Red Bell’s Lament (Spring 2025)
  7. Bustafellows Season 2 (TBA)
  8. Mistonia no Kibou (TBA)
  9. Utakata no Uchronia (TBA)
  10. Temirana: The Lucky Princess and the Tragic Knights (TBA)

✔️ So Many Upcoming Indie Titles I’m Genuinely Excited for!

I want to try as many indie otome game as I can next year!
Some of the games I am really looking forward to play are (some of these title release in 2026 btw):

  • Touchstarved
  • Shattered Souls
  • Mirage Noir
  • Snowkissed Romance
  • Peach Valley
  • Salvus Aries
  • Hight Times (not otome)
  • Neverlander

Blog Updates

  • Motivation Corner. From last year’s Motivation Corner, the results were:

Alice: Alice won in the first category by 31 votes more, though if you look at it, the results were pretty close. In the second category, Hana Awase won by a strong margin of 36.4% over TaiAli: Heads and Tails. So it’s pretty clear that most folks wanted to see Hana Awase first. Therefore, my backlog priorities for 2025 are:

  1. Hana Awase (Full Game Review)
  2. Alice: Alice
  3. The rest of the games in my backlog

Also, the “Motivation Corner” for this blog is now back btw with another survey. Keep in mind, the survey will run for however long until it reaches 100 votes on a specific title and not the total across all options. If you are new here, this section can be found just at the top of my newsletter button on the homepage screen. This corner was created to assess readership, and it gives me an idea of whether people are still actively reading this blog.

  • Newsletter. My newsletter has been active for two years now, and I am genuinely thankful that people are still coming to subscribe. Also, I wanted to address that I get a lot of emails asking questions like whether or not I’m reviewing xyz, or if I’m going to make walkthroughs for certain titles, etc. Sometimes it’s really hard to reply to all of them, especially when they’re pretty much the same questions I get every few days.

For anyone curious about my gaming schedule, I really encourage you to subscribe to my newsletter. It’s where I share monthly updates on my gaming plans, such as which games I’ll be playing, reviewing next, or whether or not I’ll be posting walkthroughs for certain titles, as well as which games I’ve dropped or pushed into the backlog.

It’s actually the reason I started the newsletter in the first place: to have a place where I can update my gaming schedule, as I’m not always the most active on social media. I promise, you won’t be bombarded with spam. My emails typically come once a month, and sometimes once every two months if there aren’t enough updates in this blog.
  • More Unboxing Videos, and Merch Showcase Videos on my Youtube Channel! I will be continuing my unboxing videos on YouTube, as well as showcasing otome game merch. I had a lot of fun showcasing limited edition otome merch this year, such as the Jack Jeanne x Aviott headphones and the Utapri shoes (lol). I actually filmed a lot of other exclusive, hard-to-find otome merch in November and December this year, but due to the holidays and other things going on, I failed to sit down and edit them, so they are just piled up in my hard drive right now!😂 I am going to post them in early 2025 to kickstart my page with new video content! Please stay tuned!
  • More itabag making videos! I think one of the things I really enjoyed making content about this year, as far as videos go, is my itabagging. I’ve hauled a lot of cute itabags this year and would like to make more itabags dedicated for my favs. So, expect to see a few of these videos pop up once in a while next year.🥹
  • Ofc, there will be more reviews and walkthrough posts in store for this blog next year.
  • More exciting otome merch giveaways for 2025!
  • Regarding Discord Server: This year I re-opened my inactive discord server (from six years ago lol)😂 so I could have a place to update my ongoing group order participants. I really appreciate others, outside of my group order folks, showing interest in joining, and I do take that into consideration every time I receive emails about it. However, I haven’t decided on that yet. Plus, its only me and a friend (out of the goodness of her heart) helping me mod it, so it’s not quite ready for a lot of people or new joiners yet. Thank you for understanding!🙇🏻‍♀️

Speaking of group orders, I just wanna make a quick shout-out to my group order girlies who absolutely GO HARD, and then some when it comes to merch hoarding!😂😂😂 I thought I had a problem, but man, these ladies go extra hard when it comes to their favs! MUCH RESPECT! I have finally found my people (cackling)🤣But no, fr though! I appreciate you all!🥹🫶🫶🫶

Regarding Social Media Activities

I have a hard time keeping up with social media, so I am more in and out when it comes to being socially active anywhere. I have a Bluesky account, and a Tiktok account, but then again these are very stagnant accounts since I struggle to keep up with them, as well as engage with people, and interact with other posters. It’s a tough situation, & a rough battle between being extremely introverted, overly reclusive, and still wanting to create content.

The problem I have with social media, is that if you spend so much time on it, it unknowingly consumes you, for the worst. Social media no longer operates on the old paradigm of cultivating a niche audience through organic growth. Instead, platforms are obsessed with one thing: retention. “How long can this post hold your attention?” This is very much the reason why the ragebait posts and the hot pissy takes are dominating online. On platforms like X, for example, the posts you’re most likely to see at the top are the ones designed to provoke anger or frustration. It’s because emotions like rage linger. A happy day can be easily forgotten, but a bad day can feel like it stretches on forever. Internet algorithm thrives on this; it craves those heated discussions that stretch for hours, even days. Controversy fuels interaction, and this interaction feeds the algorithm, creating a vicious cycle where negativity always seems to win.

It’s not good especially to someone who struggles with mental health problems on a daily. So sometimes, I just find myself taking a step back . Doing this has actually made me a lot happier this year.

Personal Updates

Due to TMI, I will be enclosing the rather “too personal” and ranty rambles in a spoiler tab! Feel free to skip this section!

⬇️ Personal Updates (TMI – Feel free to skip!)

♥This year I met some family members that I hadn’t seen in over two decades. Last August, I traveled to visit my aunt (my father’s half sister), whom I hadn’t seen since I was eight. She secretly told a few relatives about my visit, and they surprised me by picking me up at the airport. It was such a touching experience. Everyone was so welcoming, despite most of them not having met me before.

Though I have only spent a week with them, during that short visit, I have met the kindest people to ever exist in my life. When it was time to leave, they all came to the airport to send me off. It was a funny scene now that I think about it lol there were about ten of them saying goodbye, but it was also kind of bittersweet (to me). I held back my tears while walking to my (flight’s) gate and I ended up going to the bathroom to cry a little. The thought that I might not experience that same kind of happiness again makes me sad.🥲

♥ I met up with two friends in the otoge community! 🥹 One of them I actually convinced to meet up with me since she was traveling for work in my city, and the other I met by accident at the airport. They saw me playing Hakuoki on my switch and ended up approaching me.😆 These are pretty much the highlights of my year!

Anyway, We took our sugar daddies to brunch with us 🤭🤭🤭

💀On the not so good news, the recent hurricane out here in the states tore off the fascia of our garage roof! Oof, and it took about two months to find the right people to fix it. Unfortunately, our homeowner’s insurance didn’t cover it.🥲

💀The rise and overuse of AI in almost every single thing today is RUINING CREATIVITY. It is everywhere I turn, shoved in every unnecessary corner. It is so frustrating that even in my workplace (I work in tech) it’s being integrated and encouraged. With how everything is progressing in this direction, I imagine the use of AI will soon become normalized, and I just feel incredibly demotivated to work.😞 I am genuinely fearful that one day my workplace is going to be laying off a lot of people and have AI replace us, which most American companies are already doing so to speak, so that kind of anxiety lingers on to me every single day. The tech industry today seems to be slapping AI into our faces without even critically evaluating whether it really adds any kind of value! I am very much against using AI in creative processes as well. It destroys raw creative spontaneity and the artist community especially has took a major hit of this! 😞

💀My work situation hasn’t improved, and it feels like my workload has tripled this year. My company also sometimes makes me feel guilty for taking leaves or for not doing enough overtimes. There were so many days that I found myself crying and breaking down from being completely overwhelmed and overworked.😞

END OF RANT, SORRY!

  • This year, I also started doing digital art, and it has been so much fun! Shout out to my friends who taught me some cool tips for drawing. I’ve been looking for another creative outlet besides blogging, and I think I’ve found my niche (well sort of lol). While I’m not quite proud enough of my creations to post them online yet, I made some stickers this holiday season and secretly slipped them into my group order packages!🥹

Chlouma

I was really stressed all year (thanks to dayjob woes), so I was very much focused on doing bits of things that make me happy. And what better way to cheer myself up than……… Douma? 🤪 I made this one shot not too long ago, & it started as a meme and a joke to myself. I was legit cackling ang giggling while creating this lmao😂 but now, it kind of made me want to try my hand at writing romance someday!

Anyway, please enjoy this one shot I made featuring my favorite yume couple!

Special Thanks

I opened up my end-of-the-year survey again this year to gauge whether people are still reading this blog. 😂 This also helps me improve the site’s content and get feedback on the articles I post all year long. Thank you so much to everyone who filled out the form and left very kind messages!🤧🥺 In all honesty, this blog was initially created because I needed an outlet to express myself, be silly, annoying, and cringe (lol) while also talking about the hobbies I’m passionate about. Over time, though, it’s become a little safe nook that I return to as a way to de stress and escape my adult problems. Im not really interested in the numbers or popularity; I blog because it makes me happy. This meme is essentially me. lol While it’s nice to bask in the little joy of doing something you love, it’s also very fulfilling to know there are people who enjoy the things I create and write.

I really am very very grateful to everyone who visits this site, leave kind comments, fangirls and even to those who point out some walkthrough mistakes or typos, lol I enjoy those too! THANK YOU ALL FOR TREATING ME KINDLY THIS YEAR!🙇🏻‍♀️

Please choose to be kind.

Please be kind to others and be kind to yourself. Know that everyone is going through a silent battle everyday we know nothing about, so please, be a lot kinder if you can help it.🩷🩷🩷

I hope everyone is taking care of themselves. I meant it guys! Please eat, drink plenty of liquids, hydrate, take vitamins, don’t get sick, stay safe, stay warm! Treat yourself every once in a while, please do your best to be as comfortable and happy as you can. I know life has been tough, and we struggle through it everyday.
But, you can make it! Please keep pushing forward! I believe in you!

My wish for 2025 is to whoever is reading this, may whatever you are constantly stressing about gets better. May the burdens you carry grow lighter, and the dark thoughts, doubts, and overthinking, exit your mind. I hope you can relax in the remaining hours left of this year and welcome the next year with a lot of positivity, and good jujus ONLY! Let’s all make it in 2025! Happy new year everyone!🥹💛🎉

Love Always,
Chlo
